Same audio level all along the track-...

Hi,

I am editing with Adobe Audition 1.5 a?3 hour conference. The audio levels are very variable, sometimes higher, sometimes lower. I was requested to produce a wav file with exactly the same level all along the track. How do I do that?

Thanks a lot for your help

Ernest

Normally you'd do this by limiting all the peaks and compressing the rest of the audio - probably in several stages until it sounds right. And if you are prepared to dedicate the time to doing this carefully (you have to listen carefully to what you're doing), you can achieve a reasonable result.

Alternatively, you could download The Levelator, which is designed to make that job somewhat simpler, and seems to be remarkably good, considering what it's trying to do. This has to be a lot easier for the sort of task you are undertaking.

Just tried out the levelator, that's a handy little tool.

tumbs up!
