InDesign CS3 freezing with Vista

Recently upgraded to Vista 32bit. InDesign CS3 files are freezing.?Unable to open files again even after ending program and rebooting computer. Help.

InDesign CS3 freezing with Vista

We need way more info...What version of Vista? System specs? How did you upgrade? New machine? Clean install? In place upgrade?

FWIW, I've seen no problem with CS3 or CS4 on Vista Ultimate 64 or Vista Home Premium 32.

InDesign CS3 freezing with Vista

Bob (or current expert),

I'm using Windows Vista Business, 32 bit on a new HP Compaq dc7900 Convertible Minitower computer. 500 GB, 4GB Ram, Intel Core 2. Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium was installed on the new computer from the original discs. Added Extensis Suitcase to fix the font problem between Vista and Adobe programs.

Update 7/21/09: now InDesign won't open any .indd files.

The first thing I would do is remove the Suitcase plugin from the InDesign plugins folder.

How are you trying to open files -- double-click or File %26gt; Open?

Tried both ways, open files and double click on the icon on the desktop.

Any error messages? Do you see the correct icons?

Once I try to open an .indd file, InDesign keeps trying to open it

without success. I have to reboot my computer to get it InDesign to

open. When it does open, it shows all functions but it won't open any

files. Tried moving the Suitcase folder to another location but

couldn't. Had difficulty just getting the fonts to work in the

beginning. Do you advise uninstalling InDesign and then reinstalling?

Is this a compatibility problem with this version of Vista? Should I

consider upgrading to CS4?

Depending on where you installed ID, the path to the plugins folder should look something like C:\Program Files\Adobe\CS3\Adobe InDesign CS3\Plug-Ins, and somewhere in that folder you'll find the Suitcase plugin (I don't know its name becasue I don't use Suitcase). Remove that plugin.

Does InDesign crash when you try to open files, or just do nothing, or what, exactly? Are you being asked if you want to recover a fiel from a previous crash?

Success. I transferred the Suitcase plugin file to another location on my C drive and everything is working. Hope it stays that way. Thanks for your help.
